The mascots represent the image of Busan by depicting the seagull, the city bird of the host city, Busan. The seagull's white body and wings symbolize the "white-clad race" and the tenacious flying along the sea route represents the strong spirit of Busan citizens. The mascots are cute seagulls in red and blue holding table tennis rackets which add to its affinity with Busan citizens. The colors of their clothes represent the Taeguek mark of Korean national flag.

The Organizing Committee decided to finalize and announce the name of the mascots through a public naming contest. The emblem, announced by the organizing committee on the day, is engraved with the Gwangan Bridge symbolizing Busan inside the two table tennis racket figures in the colors of the Taegeuk mark.

The rim of the rackets is in the shape of " ∞“, meaning infinity, which contains the will for infinite peace of mankind and inter-Korean reconciliation through table tennis. The shape of the Korean Peninsula resembling the Korean Peninsula flag is placed exquisitely in the middle of the emblem, which reflects hopes for the inter-Korean peace and the success of the unified team.

OH Keo-don, the Co-President of the Organizing Committee said "The upcoming Championship which is hosted for the first time in Korea's 100-year history of table tennis is able to speed up the preparations with the confirmation of mascots and emblem,"

"The mascots with the figure of seagulls and the emblem with Gwangan Bridge symbolizing Busan will make the event even more brilliant with Busan citizens," he added.
